ePortfolio

A stage to show yourself

Evaluation is important in learning and progress.

When we know what we did is right or wrong we might change our strategy and have a better solution next time. Otherwise, it's like a journey without compass or drifting in a black hole.

There are different types of evaluation. Not like summative evaluation which connect with a certification or a concrete result, formative evaluation aims to helping people find a way to progress. The portfolio is one of formative evaluation (Laurier, 2005). In this way we feel the joy of progress and become more brave for challenges, which builds us a growth Mindset. (Dweck, 2017).

When we do our portfolio we sorted out our own learning experiences and achievements, and recorded our own experiences. With the help of technology, we can realize an interesting e-portfolio which includes multimedia resources.

The e-portfolio is extremely important for some special carriers like artists but also important for all of us. It's one of the best ways to do self-evaluation, to resume our strength and weakness. It's also important to collecting our achievements which will work one day for our career. Furthermore, it also reminds us to focus on our goal and working hard for it.

By doing my e-portfolio, I cultivate a good habit to do lecture reading and summary, to resume my projects. When I look at my e-portfolio, I know what I should work for and what achievements I did. I feel confident for the future.

A lively CV

A good resume is not enough to show yourself? Why not try e-portfolio?

EPortfolio uses network platform to display the talents and experiences of people. We can see it as a super CV presented by web design.

Here are some experiences I got in my e-portfolio project:

Firstly, carefully select platform. You can choose wordPress, Wix or Weebly. I finally chose Wix. Its free version is already good enough for novice and advanced needs.

Secondly, the overall frame design is very important. The layout of pages should be logical. The main content should be obvious. Besides, the convenience of users should always be considered. It’s better to build a flow chart before you begin.

The aesthetics is also important. The colors, proportions, and dynamic contents may bring the webpage an atmosphere attractive or disturbing.

Last but not least, you may try hundreds of time for some tiny details. Have patience and don’t forget to save your changes frequently.

Of course, this is also a very interesting process, especially the application of user thinking to design and improve, not only helps in webpage design, but also bring me a habit to listen to others’ opinions.

EPortfolio is really a powerful tool to present one person. While I enjoy the e-portfolios of my classmates, I learned more about these companions, and feel closer with them.

Try an ePortfolio and let more chances knock on your door.
